PASS Stands in Support of Virgin Hotel Strike
PASS stands in full solidarity and support of the Culinary Union workers on strike at Virgin Las Vegas.
PASS is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the health and safety of adult industry workers. As an organization concerned with workers’ wellbeing, we are unwilling to cross a picket line. We support the strikers’ demands for higher wages in a fair contract.
We urge folks gathering for AVN to do the following:
Do not eat, drink, or sleep at Virgin Las Vegas. This is the only hotel on strike in Las Vegas and an outlier, there are available alternative accommodations and you can use fairhotel.org to find socially responsible union hotels to stay at. You can also go to www.UnionEats.org to find union restaurants while you’re in Vegas.
Join the Virgin picket line in solidarity with the workers. If you are interested in participating, please email info@passcertified.org.
Donate to the strike fund to help support the strikers.
It is our sincere hope that Virgin bargains in good faith and settles immediately so that convention activities can continue as planned. We call on Virgin’s owners such as Fengate Asset Management to take responsibility for resolving the strike fairly and quickly.
We are grateful for the space AVN provides our community; the convention has been the cultural epicenter of the industry for nearly 50 years. We recognize that it is not easy for the adult industry to relocate - the stigma our industry faces presents real challenges in our ability to access space and services. We also recognize that many workers in our industry do not have the financial freedom to cancel their obligations without significant risk - act as you are able. Our primary commitment is to our industry and our industry’s future depends on robust networks of solidarity and support. We welcome this opportunity to cultivate it.
